Data Week: NITDA Opens Portal, Calls on Companies to Showcase Innovativeness

As part of harnessing data for national development, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has opened its portal for Data Protection Service Organizations (DPOs) and Technology Developers to make innovative entries as part of the privacy data technology expo.

In a disclosure, the Director General of NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Abdullahi, said the pioneer expo is aimed at showcasing operators’ innovativeness and contribution to growing global privacy enhancing technology industry. The expo is slated to end on 26 January, 2021, after a virtual pitch to both local and global audiences.

Recall that NITDA’s issuance of the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) in 2019 has stimulated pioneering technologies to aid compliance to individual and corporate data privacy.

The expo is also geared towards raising awareness on data assets, security and privacy are designed by the government IT clearinghouse as part of the national privacy week.

The agency is therefore calling on data protection service organizations and technology developers to make entries for the expo, as according to NITDA solutions will be evaluated on the basis of originality, marketability, scalability, inclusiveness, job and wealth creation potentials.

NITDA, said: “Successful entries will have an opportunity to present their solution to a national and international audience.”

The portal will be open from January 13, 2021 till 20, 2021, while entries will be evaluated till January 22, 2021.

“Shortlisted finalists will be notified by January 25 and will be required to do a 3 minute live pitch on Tuesday January 26, 2021.” NITDA, said.
