Belgore Tasks Ministry Staff on Optimal Service Delivery

Following the ongoing service delivery reform for optimal performance and the resolve of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, geared at higher productivity, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, has called on staff of the Ministry to key in and embrace the Performance Management System (PMS).

The PMS which is objective oriented for service improvement, Dr. Belgore stated will replace the hitherto Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER), for staff evaluation in the Service.

The Permanent Secretary gave the charge during a 3-day Workshop on Performance Management System for Directorate Cadre Officers in the ministry.

According to him, Performance Management in the federal civil service, when fully implemented, would help develop, enhance and sustain a performance and result-oriented culture in the Service.

In a statement signed by Mr. Towoju Raphael, on behalf of the Director of Media/Communications and Public Relations  in the Ministry, Mrs. Blessing Lere-Adams, quoted the Permanent Secretary as imploring the staff and participants to pay serious attention to the training so as to be able to pass the knowledge they would acquire to their subordinates.

He assured that the ministry would do everything possible to ensuring that the good initiative of the federal government as the new yardstick for officers’ evaluation was implemented fully.

Responding on behalf of her colleagues, the Director Human Resources Management in the Ministry, Mrs. Dafe Tessy Adesida, thanked the Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the Permanent Secretary for the opportunity given to the officers to undergo the training.

Adesida, assured that they would reciprocate the gesture by fully supporting the adoption and implementation of this performance management system in the ministry.
