Daura Community Upbeat as Rulers, Indigenes Commend FG over Infrastructure Upgrade

It was excitement galore for the residents of Daura town in Katsina State as they commend the Federal Government for the intervention and upgrade of infrastructure projects in the community.

The Emir of Daura, Dr. Umar Farouk Umar, poured encomium to the federal government the quick intervention geared towards bringing development to the community.

The royal father tasked the contractors to ensure good quality work and timely completion as specified in the contract, while at the same time pledging his support of affected community towards the success of the project.  

The Emir, made the pledge during a pre-project handover and sensitization/awareness creation ceremony at his palace in the city of Daura.  The event was a platform created by the Ecological EFO to bring together stakeholders in the project at Daura community as in other parts of the country where projects are currently ongoing.

In her address, the Permanent Secretary of Ecological Project Office (EFO), Dr. Habiba Lawal, who was represented by the Deputy Director/Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, Dr. Joel Oruche, stated that the meeting was to flag off the project approved by the federal government/presidency.

The project, the Permanent Secretary, asserted was to sensitize the community on the need to cooperate and support the contractors on site. 

According to her, the sensitization was aimed at building bridges of understanding between EFO, the contractors and the host community with a view to resolving issues that may hinder the progress of work.

Dr. Lawal called for peace and cooperation with the contractor to ensure quality job and timely delivery of the project within 16 months stipulated for the project delivery. 

She advised them on the need to shun rancor, violence, conspiracy and extortion against contractors and by extension the Federal Government. 

The project which is under upgrade consists of 8,432meter road improvement work, will also have drainage control.

The contractor, on his part promised to complete the project within the specified period with the required specification and good quality standard.

In his contribution, the Bebejin of Daura, Abba Yahaya while commending the federal government pleaded that Daura town be provided waste management facility so as to make the environment clean and habitable.

Obegolu Amala, of the Office PR Unit, in a statement on behalf of the Head of the Unit which was made available to the media, said the event was well attended by Daura Emirate council members, Community Heads, men/women groups and youths who pledged their support for the contractor.
