…Minister, Ex-FRSC boss, others to grace book presentation

Media practitioner and tested author, Mr. Benjamin Atonko, said arrangement has been concluded for the unveiling of his latest book: ‘Bleeding Roads’ on Wednesday 24th (tomorrow) to the Nigerian public.
The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Muhammad Bello, the former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Osita Chidoka, the former Chief Justice of the Federation, Chief Mike Aondoakaa SAN and Oheme Tiv, Chief Joseph Aneh, are expected to grace the launch of the book.
The presentation of the book, EXTRAORDINAIRE news leant has been streamlined as part of activities marking the United Nations (UN) Decade of Action for Road Safety-Post Crash 2011-2020.
The launch is billed to attract experts in road safety management, policy makers, diplomats and stakeholders in safety delivery is scheduled for 10:00am at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Abuja.
Road fatalities the author averred has increased in the first United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety-Post Crash 2011-2020.
Atonko, said deaths from road traffic outstrip those from all the public health fatalities, adding that the book is an expose on the 5th pillar of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety.
Recall that the World Day of Remembrance of road crashes is marked every 3rd Sunday of November to remember those killed and seriously injured in road traffic crashes.
On book, the author, underscores that the time has come to evaluate the work of emergency and medical workers regarding auto crashes, stressing that the book tells the story of Nigerians whose journeys terminated on the road and relatives of crash victims who are living eternally with broken hearts.
He said the UN gives serious consideration for this year because it is the threshold for the 2nd Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030.
“The decade’s target is to reduce road traffic crashes by 50%. The world body looks up to a public transport system that is accessible, safe and sustainable.” he said.
According to him, stakeholders are of the view that if the decade doesn’t begin well, the target will be far from being met.
