Reeling statistics obtained from early warning, advanced weather watching technologies, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency NiMet) has predicted a rise in temperature across some states in Nigeria.
According to the forecast, areas that will have temperature greater than 35°C and less than 40°C, and greater than 40°C.
The statement disclosed that parts of Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, FCT, Imo, Plateau, Adamawa, Taraba and Benue are expected to experience temperatures greater than 40°C.Most parts of the north (except Kano) are expected to experience temperatures greater than 35°C and less than 40°C.
The General Manager, Public Relations, Mr. Muntari Yusuf Ibrahim, in the statement added, that entire inland of the south and most parts of the coastal states (except Lagos) are expected to be in the same temperature range, the statement disclosed.
NiMet, advised that to cope and stay safe in extreme heat, people should drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration, avoid leaving humans or animals in the car, especially young children, that it is best to stay in the shade such as trees if you must wait outside and wear light and bright cloths.
