2023: Onu Dismisses Online Report as Fake News That He is Anointed to Take-over from Buhari

By Hillary Asemota

The Minister of Science Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, through his Spokesperson at the Ministry, Mr. Afonja Ajibola, has placed a disclaimer on the online report that he is the APC anointed presidential candidate in next year’s general election.

While debunking the publication as fake which cannot be substantiated, he said it is the handiwork of some political destabilisers who are bent on destroying his personality in order to derail the progress being made in the STI ecosystem across the country.

The statement read: “The attention of the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has been drawn to a report by some political destabilisers who are bent on destroying the personality of the Minister and the APC, in order to derail the progress being made in the STI ecosystem in the country.

“To get the facts straight, Dr. Onu has not at any time made the statement as credited to him by the political jobbers in the said publication.”

Rather, Onu, who is a renowned Chemical Engineer and Scientist averred that he is presently fully focused, committed and engaged on using Science Technology and Innovation for the development of a knowledge driven and Innovation centred economy required to move Nigeria into the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR).

He urged Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora to  ignore the online false publication.
