Yemi-Esan Harps on Efficiency, Productivity for Optimum Service Delivery

By Dwelleth Morountodun

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan has called on Civil Servants to be more effective and productive in the discharge of their duties as “hard work and productivity are not only required of us by the government but also by God as well.”

She echoed this during a Special Thanksgiving Service held at the Exousia Church of God, to praise and celebrate the Almighty for a successful ending of the 2022 Civil Service Week, on Sunday 26th June, 2022, in Abuja.

Yemi-Esan described the theme of the Civil Service Day, “Performance Management System: Impact on Productivity” as instructive and in tandem with what God demands of us.

The Head of Service expressed her profound gratitude to God for His mercies on her, every Civil Servant and for, in particular, a successful 2022 Civil Service Week.

Civil Servants were commended for their commitment, hard work and resourcefulness, while acknowledging that they are not evenly celebrated. That notwithstanding, she encouraged them not to relent in their efforts at achieving the transformation going on in the Service, promising that it is getting to a point where every Civil Servant will be proud to be one.

Delivering a Sermon, the Senior Pastor of the Church, Pastor Kunle Shoyele admonished that God expects us to be productive in order to advance in life by reaching our destiny. He enjoined Civil Servants to be upright for the purpose of accountability, emphasizing that we are placed by God in the positions we occupy for a purpose, which must be achieved, for God rewards, always.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Andrew David Adejoh, described the Anonymous Reporting System (ARS) as a welcome development for availing Civil Servants the opportunity to express themselves through asking questions on issues that affects them, reporting bad culture and making relevant suggestions, where necessary.

The 2022 Special Thanksgiving Service had in attendance Transformative Permanent Secretaries, service-wide, Directors and Federal Civil Servants from different Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
