FG Urges Private, Public Sectors to Use Technology Strategies Eliminate Carbon Emission

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation, Mrs. Monilola Udoh, on Tuesday called on the organised Organized Private and Public Sectors to key into the National Technology Action Plan to eliminate carbon emission.

The Permanent Secretary who spoke in Abuja at the validation workshop on Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) and Associated Action Plan for Climate Change, aimed towards achieving Carbon Emission development strategies for Nigeria.

She stressed that Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) is a sure roadmap towards eliminating carbon emission in Nigeria.

Mrs Udoh said this today in Abuja at the validation workshop on Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) and Associated Action Plan for Climate Change.

According to Udoh, Technology Action Plan (TAP) is one of the set activities lined up for the actualization of Technology Needs Assessment (TNA), geared towards climate change mitigation and adaptation in Nigeria’s vulnerable economic sector.

She noted that in pursuit of the 2015 Paris Agreement which Nigeria is signatory to, the department of Environmental Science and Technology the Ministry, commenced the official validation exercise in 2020 to actualize the mandate of the Nigeria’s Climate Change and Adaptation.

The Permanent Secretary, further explained that the successful collection of inputs through the just concluded regional workshops and its reports on selected and prioritized Technologies for each sector will lead to the National Technology Action plan when approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

To this end, she called on the Organized Private and Public Sectors to key into the National Technology Action Plan, validated today in Abuja, towards achieving Carbon Emission development strategies for Nigeria.

In his remarks, Head of department, Environmental Science Technology, Dr. Peter Ekwueozor, said that the essence of the workshop is to validate all resolutions made so as to enable Nigeria to develop National Technology Action Plan which will lead to diversification of all sectors of the economy as well attract foreign and local investors.
