2022 IYD: FG Charges Youth on Nation Building

As the world marks the International Youth Day (IYD) today (12th of August), the Federal Government on Friday charged the teeming Nigerian youth to channel their energies and resources towards nation building.

This is even as they were advised to shun all forms of vices that are inimical to the growth, stability, and socio-economic development of the nation.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, stated this in his message to the youth in commemoration of the 2022 International Youth Day (IYD) with the theme: ”International Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages.”

According to him, “the youth are the most active component in the demography of our beloved nation” he therefore urged them to use this vantage position positively to be self reliant and employable.

The Minister who reiterated the present administration’s commitment to the continuous provision of an enabling environment for the development of the youth, urged them to key into these opportunities so as to compete favourably on the global stage.

“Let us also take advantage of the opportunities provided for us by government to get training and empowerment that will prepare us to compete favourably on the global stage and lead us to creating the Nigeria of our dreams”, Dare said.

The IYD is celebrated annually on 12 August to bring youth matters to the attention of the international community and also celebrate the enormous potential of youth as partners in today’s global society.
