2023 Int’l Youth Day: Edo Commences Online Registration

The Edo State Government has commenced online registration for the 2023 International Youth Day (IYD) event, scheduled to hold in Benin City, the state capital.

In a statement, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Mrs. Eire Ifueko Alufohai, said the International Youth Day will take place at the Wellspring University Campus in Benin City, between August 10 and 12.

She noted that the event is organised by the state government in partnership with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Romanspage Global Services Nigeria Limited.

Alufohai, said the event themed, ‘Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for all ages and Encouraging Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World,’ will feature about 300 youths from across the State.

According to her, “The International Youth Day is an annual global event generally aimed at highlighting the issues related to youth and creating a forum for the global community to acknowledge their contributions to economic development and nation building.

“This year’s event is specifically targeted towards encouraging solidarity, unity, and collaborations across different generations for the overall development of the state and the country at large, empowering youth participation in the creative sectors as well as encouraging the acquisition of several skills relevant to contemporary social and economic development.

“It will feature a two-day boot camp on the 10th and 11th and a Youth Day Celebration on the 12th of August at Wellspring University, located at Irhirhi/ Ogbaneki Layout, off Airport Road, Benin City,” she added.
