The Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reiterated Federal Government’s support to Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to deliver on its mandates even as he underscores the imperative of the Corps giving the ultimate best to Nigerians.
He said to whom much is given much is expected, adding that the Ministry expects NSCDC to give Nigeria the best in terms of security.
While commending them on their efforts, he added: “As federal government, they are doing all that is possible to ensure support and inspire confidence to officers and men of the Corps to succeed.
“Also as federal government, we are putting in all that we can to ensure that we provide and support our agencies with the right materials and of course the right knowledge that is needed for them to deliver, I know the NSCDC is not an exception.”
Dr. Tunji-Ojo, gave the assurance on Wednesday, while launching a camouflage uniform for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, as additional uniform for the security agency.
He stressed that the government will continue to support the corps, especially on the welfare of officers and also training, which he said is very paramount to him and he added that the government will continue to invest on them and he expressed optimism that the dividend of government investment on the corps would enhanced security in the country.
The Minister also disclosed that the promotion result of officers would soon be released in a couple of weeks, he assured the security personnel that henceforth they will be promoted as at when due, adding that it is unacceptable a situation where an officer will remain stagnated on a level for six to eight years before being promoted to the next level.
He expressed that; “to whom much is given much is expected”, he therefore urged the NSCDC to give Nigeria the best in terms of security.
Tunji-Ojo, commended the Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Dr. Abubakar Audi, for the innovation, acknowledging that since he became Minister of Interior, what he witnessed about NSCDC is of course shared innovations.
He therefore congratulated Commandant General for the wonderful work to the country.
He remarked however, that the new camouflage uniform would go a long way to give officers of NSCDC sense of pride amongst their contemporary within the security circle, adding that it will boost their morale and give them confidence, he appreciated the C. G. Audi for the initiative.
Earlier in his presentation of the new camouflage uniform, Commandant General of NSCDC told the Minister that operatives of the corps took part in all joint operations, both kinetic and non kinetic and decried only NSCDC that doesn’t have camouflage uniform in the midst of other security services.
He assured that the new camouflage would inspire confidence and also boost the morale of officers while on operations, adding that the officers have been yearning for the camouflage in order to blend with their counterparts in other services.
Audi, also assured that the new camouflage would be used by Agro Rangers while on operations in farm lands, being part of the corps arms squared.
Present at the launched of the camouflage Uniform, were the Acting Permanent Secretary, Dr. Peter Egbodo, Directors in the ministry and other Special Assistants to the Minister.
