INNOVATION, SCIENCE TECH MINISTRY, SIGN UP WITH ICPC TO FIGHT CORUPTION-ASANYE

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology Mrs. Esuabana Nko Asanye, has expressed the readiness of the Ministry to collaborate with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to fight corruption through full implementation of Anti-corruption measures in the public service. 

Esuabana, who was represented by the Director Human Resources of the Ministry, Mr. Hassan Ibrahim, disclosed this at the Annual Staff Sensitization Workshop on Anti-Corruption and maiden staff award ceremony today, in Abuja.

The Deputy Director (Press & Public Relations), FMIST, Mr. Atuora Obed, in a statement quoted the Permanent Secretary as saying: ‘’Our ultimate end should be to ensure the strong will in implementing Anti-corruption measures in the public sector and with our collective efforts in the fight against corruption, corruption will  definitely be  reduced to barest minimum within the public sector’’.

She stated that the war against corruption in work place would indeed be a warfare that all and sundry need to fight so that this canker worm will not destroy the   socio-economic well-being of our country. 

To this end, the Permanent Secretary enjoined the staff of the Ministry to be patriotic in their respective duty posts for a greater Ministry and more prosperous country.

She then, commended the awardees for their valuable contributions to the growth of the Ministry and called on other Staff to emulate the good character of the awardees for the achievement of Nigeria of our dream.

Earlier, the Director Special Duties, Mr. Bisong Agbor who was represented by the Chairman, Anti-Corruption Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the Ministry, Mrs. Stella Igwilo said that the award is line with the ACTU Revised Standing Order.

This is  to appreciate staff who have distinguished themselves in the quest for transparency, emphasizing  that the criteria for the selection is anchored on integrity, punctuality, team spirit, innovative ideas and dedication to duty.

Speaking, the Chairman Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Dr. Musa Aliyu who was represented by Dr.  Adeshina Anike, said that the Institution is continually sensitizing staff in various public and private institutions on corruption and engaging in-house programmes and activities in managing corruption in work place.

He further said that the Commission is confident that the programme will encourage staff to perform excellently in their duties without engaging in corrupt practices.
