By Dwelleth Morountodun

The Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has said President Bola Tinubu, is saving for the country N5.5 billion monthly from stopping unnecessary and wasteful foreign trips by officials and senior personnel of Ministries, departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Fielding questions from Journalists at the sideline of the rally she organized in support of the President Tinubu’s reform and why the protest must not hold in Abuja, she said:

“We used to travel a lot before President Bola Tinubu came in. He came and stopped the foreign trips. This saved Nigeria N5.5 billion every month.

“This year, the President wants to change things and that is why he sat on the allocation to make sure that it will be properly used.

“Before, Nigerians will gallivant abroad coming home with nothing including my office Women Affairs ministry and they will say it is for the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), they will carry the money that we are supposed to use to help the nation. Carry it and travel and come home with nothing.

‘Nobody was able to talk to them but with the gut that President Tinubu gave to me it did not happen this year.”

According to her, no money from her Ministry was used to travel for CSW. We got those that used to call us to sponsor us to come and lavish our money, adding that that is why we are encouraging our President to do what he is doing.

In a short while, Kennedy-Ohanenye, explained that Nigerians will see the results and even the little that they are seeing from her, adding: “When I say I no go gree, I no go gree is it not because I have the backing of the President.

“I’m begging Nigerians to give the President a little time so that our children will not die so that the result will show.”
