…Orders removal of unauthorised checkpoints at the borders

In her unwavering commitment towards ensuring national security and curtailing insecurity across Nigeria’s border posts, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (CGIS), Kemi Nandap, has reiterated the deployment of e-solutions, trainings and the welfare of officers.
At a meeting with Comptrollers of Border Commands and Commanders at the Service Headquarters in Abuja, she ordered that unauthorized checkpoints be removed from the borders for routine patrols.
This is with the view to completely forestall dangerous and unauthorized elements from entering the country.
In a statement made available to the media over the weekend, signed by the DCI, Mr. KT Udo, he said: “The CGIS has instructed that henceforth, Comptrollers are to employ supervisory strategies, ensure timely report of major movements and professionally handle sensitive intelligence requiring urgent attention with recommendations for enhanced border monitoring.
Nandap, the statement added charged them to be dedicated to duty while underscoring the significance of border security reinforcing that the realities in the country which requires extra layers of security at the borders to infiltration that fuel crises in the country.
According to the statement, Nandap, also directed the immediate submission of both manpower and logistics audit, tasking the Commanders on the need for a robust inter-agency collaboration for effective intelligence sharing.
The meeting provided opportunity for the Commanders to assess situations at the borders to gain useful insights that will guide policy and operational strategies towards enhanced national security.
