FG RE-APPOINTS ABDULAHI MUSTAPHA AS DG NBRDA TILL 2029

President Bola Tinubu, has approved the re-appointment of the Director General, National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA), Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha for a second tenure of 5 years.

His reappointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government (SGF), Senator George Akume.. 

 Mustapha’s second tenure is with effect from 31st October, 2024 and is in line with the provisions of Section 10 (1) and (3) of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (Establishment) Act, 2022.

Industry experts consider his reappointment as an expression of President Tinubu’s confidence in his ability to drive innovation towards attaining food security, enhanced pharmaceutical production, and position Nigeria at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. His reappointment is an opportunity to build on his salutary record of achievements in the last 4 years.

The Press Secretary to the DG, Mrs. Toyin Omozuwa, in a statement said, her boss is a Professor of Bioinorganic Chemistry from Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to her, Mustapha’s extensive wealth of experience in the academia and industry will dynamise the ethical practice of biotechnology for national development.
