…pro bono practice to the needy can guarantee life of greatness, Tietie, says
By Dele Ogbodo
Executive Director, at CASER and human rights activist, Mr. Frank Tietie, is set to expand the relevance of pro-bono practice across the landscape as according to him in a statement, the stage is set for the launch today of his: Lawyers Across to drive the initiative.
Tietie, who has been finding sweet spot in the media landscape, said in his WHATSAPP notebook: “This 10th day of December 2024, International Human Rights Day, I am proud to launch LAWYERS ACROSS, a network of Nigerian-based lawyers dedicated to Finding Relevance and Reward in Pro Bono Practices.
Narrating his trajectory after graduating from the University of Benin, Benin-City, Old Bendel State, now Edo State, he added that as a young lawyer starting out in the quiet town of Ughelli, Delta State, I sought a meaningful career path.
The CASER director acknowledged that in 2007: “I moved to Abuja with just a bag of books.
“I proved that a poor young lawyer could rise above the label of a ‘charge and bail lawyer’ and achieve national recognition through Pro Bono Practices, even without institutional support.
“I am committed to coordinating and sharing skills and connections in the art of helping those in distress through the power of law.
“Pro bono work is not only a means to give back but also a pathway to personal and professional growth.
“I invite all young lawyers—from the savannahs of Northern Nigeria to the hinterlands of the Niger Delta, and everywhere in between—who aspire to do more and become more to embark on this journey.
Still on pro bono, he explained that by offering pro bono legal services to those in need, you can guarantee yourself a life of greatness without compromising standards and avoiding some of the mistakes I made. So, if you are interested, please send me an email, and let’s get started!
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Messrs. Henry Tietie and the following lawyers who have significantly contributed to the foundational days of my pro bono journey: Godswill Mrakpor, Taiwo Faboyo, Emmanuel Jakpa, Linda Agidi and Andrew Korna.”
