The Minister of State for Works, and the Minister Superintending the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Barr. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has assured that Nigerians will be given the best in road maintenance and safety across federal roads network.
He made the disclosure during a familiarization tour to FERMA Headquarters today (Wednesday 5th) February, 2025.
According to the Minister, Nigerians deserve the best experience in pleasurable ride and security from all forms of danger when using the road.

He however, bemoaned the poor budgetary allocation for roads maintenance in the country as factor militating against the realization of this dream.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu, has given priority to infrastructure especially road infrastructure but poor budgetary provision occasioned by competing needs from all sectors and the state of the economy has made things difficult.
The Director (Information/PR), Mrs. Maryam Sanusi, in a statement, said the Minister was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Adebiyi Olusesan Olufunso, during the visited to the proposed Corporate Headquarters of the agency on the Abuja Airport Road.
Goronyo, acknowledged that he is comfortable with the performance of the agency and is ready to give all necessary support to ensure that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on road infrastructure is achieved.
On setback to road maintenance, the Permanent Secretary, expressed worry on funds inadequacy, inadequate and late releases, adding: “We are witnessing some setbacks in the road sector.”
He noted that FERMA staff are highly committed to duties and the agency possesses some of the best staff in the civil service structure.
In his response, the Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Emeka Agbasi, appreciated the Minister of State for his support and commitment to seeing that the federal roads network is motorable all year round.
