Jurassic Abattoir and Commodities Development Initiative (CDI), have concluded the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement for access the Saudi Arabia market for red meat market and food security agenda
Under the agreement, Jurassic Abattoir will produce high quality bovine and ovine meat products while CDI will provide off-take and market access to the Saudi market working with SALIC and private meat importers in Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Anyebe Idoga, Managing Director of P and I Energy Consult, owners of Jurassic Abattoir and Ranch, said: “This partnership is timely and in the nation’s interest as we work in partnership with the Federal and state governments to harness the necessary investments in infrastructure and systems that will enable us to access the global market, starting with the Saudi Arabia market.”

This investment, he acknowledged will add to the national capacity to produce high quality meat for export, adding: We are glad to be part of this process from the beginning, says Mr. Roland Oroh, Managing Director of Commodities Development Initiative.
On the coming deal, recall that in November 2023, President Bola Tinubu at a Saudi-Nigeria Business Forum in Riyadh, KSA invited the Saudis to come to Nigeria to buy and to invest.
Also in May 2024, the Saudi Government led a delegation to Nigeria led Abdulrahman Bin Abdulmohsen al-Fadley, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) at which they met with our HM – Agriculture and Food Security, government and private sector operators. CDI made a presentation to the Saudis during their visit.
Also, on the Saudi Arabia request, CDI, have been in communication with the Saudis through the Saudi Agriculture and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC). The Saudis has expressed interest to buy the following from Nigeria: Red meat (Bovine and Ovine): 176,000 metric tons annually
Alfalfal Hay: 1 million metric tons, Soya bean Meal: 1.1 million tons annually
On Nigeria’s participation in red meat deal, in partnership with the Animal Husbandry Services and the Veterinary and Pest Control Services departments, CDI established the Nigeria Red Meat Partnership to coordinate private sector investments in the meat supply chain for efficient access to the Saudi and other markets.
Relevant departments like P&PC, AHS, VPCS, ABM and NAQS are members of the Red meat Partnership. The partnership proposes to produce and export 35,200 MT of Red Meat from Nigeria by end of 2025.
About Jurassic Abattoir:
Jurassic Abattoir is a new $10 million abattoir project on 50 hectares in Nasarawa Egon, Nasarawa state that is promoted and sponsored by P and I Energy Consult Limited. The project will have a daily capacity of 1,000 cattle and 500 sheep and goat slaughtering capacity. Project completion date is slated for September 2025 with equipment already ordered and construction in progress. The project will create 100 direct and indirect jobs on commencement.
