The Minister of State for Works, Mr. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has flagged off the distribution of the annual Ramadan package to households in Goronyo Local Government Area (L.G.A.) in Sokoto State to complement the efforts of both the federal and state governments during this holy month of Ramadan.
The items distributed include bags of parboiled rice, millet, maize and cash gifts worth more than N150 million.
The beneficiaries, including party stalwarts, religious leaders, and members of trade unions, as well as security agencies, cut across the entire eleven (11) wards of the L.G.A.
Other beneficiaries were Women and Youth Groups, as well as social media groups, the elderly, and the needy in society.
The Director, Press and Public Relations, in the Ministry, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed, in a statement, said breakdown of the items distributed is as follows: Each of the eleven wards of the L.G.A. got N1.6 million, 50 bags of rice and 20 bags each of millet and maize, L.G.A. Executives – N2.8 million and twenty-eight (28) bags of 50kg rice, Ward Executives – N14.3 million and 286 bags of assorted grains, Party Elders N1 million) and 44 bags, APC Youth Group-N1 million and 20 bags, APC Youth Group (2nd Category) – N1 million 20) bags, APC Youth Group (3rd Category) – N1 million and 20 bags and Religious Leaders – N1 million and 20 bags.
Other beneficiaries of the Minister’s benevolence include: Traditional Rulers – two million Naira (N2 million) and 50 bags, Social Media Group – one million Naira (N1 million) and twenty-five (25) bags, Women Groups – five hundred thousand Naira (N500,000) and twenty-five (25) bags, Security Agents – fifty (50) bags, Workers’ Union – five hundred thousand Naira (N500,000) and twenty (20) bags, New Decampees to APC – five hundred thousand Naira (N500,000) and 20 bags, Party Stakeholders – one million Naira (N1 million) and 50 bags and and Many other groups and venerable individuals, too numerous to mention.
The event was graced by the Executive Chairman of Goronyo Local Government Area, Engr. Zubairu Yari, APC Chairman, Alh. Saidu Muhammad, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Alh. Hussaini Umar Gorou, Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. Faruku Ahmadu Rimawa, Hon Aminu S. Rima, Secretary, Goronyo L.G.A., Hon. Shehu Garba Goronyo, APC Youth Leader, Goronyo L.G.A, Alh. Ado Taloka, Alh. Sani Umar Shinaka, Special Assistant, Alh. Salihu Dan Kalawi, as well as thousands of Party Supporters.
The beneficiaries were thankful to the performing Minister for the life-saving intervention and Godly gesture.
