Chief of the Labour Party (LP) in ENUGU State, Dr. John Nwokeabia, has condemned the senseless killings across Enugu State, particularly the recent killings in Isi-Uzo, which he said has sent shockwaves throughout the farming communities in the state.
He said the killing spree has left uncountable families and loved ones in mourning mood.
According to him, the foundation of democracy is built on accountability and the trust between the government and the governed.

“It is therefore concerning that amidst ongoing protests both online and offline regarding the menace of suspected Fulani herdsmen in various communities, the Enugu State Government has yet to publicly address Ndi Enugu on those matters.
“As we condole with the bereaved, I strongly condem the senseless violence that has claimed innocent lives all over Enugu.
“This heinous act is unacceptable and demands swift action from the authorities.” Nwokeabia, said.
While security remains the primary responsibility of the Federal Government, he said state leadership plays a crucial role in crisis management, particularly in engaging with affected communities.
The silence of the Enugu State Government at a time when the people are expressing fear, anger, and grief is not only unsettling but also counterproductive to maintaining peace, he added.
He said: “Addressing the people is not just a matter of duty but of responsibility and empathy.
“I urge the Enugu State Government and security agencies to take immediate and decisive actions to address the rising insecurity in the region.
“The people of Enugu State deserves to live in peace and safety without fear of attacks or kidnapping. We demand justice for the victims and their families, and protection for the people of Enugu State
“The government, through the appropriate institutions, must provide clarity on the true state of affairs.”
According to him, uncertainty breeds misinformation, and misinformation fuels unrest, stressing that engaging the protesters and concerned citizens is essential—listening to their grievances is the first step toward resolving them.
