President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos on Tuesday night conferred the National Honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on billionaire Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft and founder of Bill Gates Foundation.
The computer guru and a billionaire who is visibly seen as a friend of Africa and Nigeria has invested his financial resources across health, agriculture and education in the country.
Observers see the conferment of the prestigious award as timely and deserving especially as President has been consistently on foreign trips soliciting for FDI into the country.
Gates’ philanthropic gesture especially during the COVID 19 headwinds speaks as he personally mobilized resources to supply vaccines to many developing nation out of Nigeria was a beneficiary.
