FG Commends Babandede, Says He Revolutionalises Quick Issuance of Passport

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Interior has commended the outgoing Controller General of Immigration (CGI) Mr. Mohammed Babandede, for fast-tracking the prompt and regular annual reports and quick response to complaints of Nigerians on the delay in the issuance of passports.

The Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who made the disclosure during the pullout parade for Babandede, said that, President Muhammadu Buhari was the reason behind the effective and successful story of the services of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) which Nigerians are enjoying today.

The Minister recalled that he sought for one year extension for the outgoing NIS boss when he assumed office as the Minister of Interior to enable him understand the Service better, stressing that he was not in any way disappointed with the laudable innovations and digital development in the Service.

According to him, the data system has made the application of passport and visa processing a lot easier, adding: “Babandede has made great impact in the NIS with the introduction of the code of conduct for adequate data and visa management system.”

Aregbesola also commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for grooming to international best standard a beautiful and dedicated officer like him and other officers whose collaboration had enabled him achieve his goals in service.

In his remark, the outgoing NIS boss appreciated the past CGIs, Government Functionaries, traditional rulers from Jigawa State and all dignitaries present.

He stated that the border reform initiative has helped the country to effectively protect the country, he said all international airports have been completely integrated and that Visa on arrival for African countries was established to strengthen the ties with other countries for EASE of doing Business that will help boost our economy.

According to him, the digital developments has taken immigration Services to a greater height that with just a click, you get every information you need from the immigration Services in Nigeria.
