The  Member, Representing Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency, Kano State, Hon. Sani Ma’aruf Nass, popularly known as (Mai Wake) has debunked in clear terms the false and obviously sponsored orchestrated campaign to tarnish, maligned his hard earned reputation over the years which has translated in lifting several thousands of Kano indigenes from poverty.

In a statement made available to Journalists by his Media Office reiterated that the attention of the general public is swayed recently over the outright false and orchestrated misrepresentation of facts circulating in some online media outfits which has since started damaging the reputation of their hardworking Principal. Hon. Sani Ma’aruf Nass (Mai Wake) the member, representing Minjibir/Ungogo.

According to the Head of his Media Office, Mr. Ibrahim Garba Iceman, he said  dubious intention of the perpetrators through planting such lies is aimed at blackmailing or tarnishing Mai Wake’s good image as well as undermine the effort of good representation which is unprecedented in the history of his constituency.

He said: “We wouldn’t have responded to such envious and cheap propaganda due to the motives behind the sponsors but for posterity and to set the record straight to the general public.

“It is important to note that on 2nd of April, 2022, which coincided with 1st Day of the Holy Month of Ramadan, 1443 A.H. the Honourable Member organised a Mega Empowerment Programme in collaboration with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and Hamada Microfinance Bank which was attended by dignitaries from within and around Kano State.”

The event, he said was duly covered by local and national media houses like the Rahama TV, Premier Radio, Solacebase, Aminiya and Justice for Watch Newspapers among others during the period under review.

According to him over N277,000,000.00 (two hundred and seventy seven  million naira) cash grant was shared to seven thousand people (7000) from the constituency in addition to 10,000 50Kg bags of beans.

“Unfortunately, the video and the images of such cash were being wrongly and mischievously circulated in the social media with unfounded accusations of relating it to the pressure from the recent new naira note redesign policy introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on November, 22nd 2022.

“For record purpose, the total amount shared was N277 million to 7000 persons, of which if you divide it by the total number the beneficiaries is less than fifty thousand (N50,000) each.

“This is far below the maximum of amount of N5 million as stipulated by the money laundering Act.

“Equally, the programme was actually conducted on the 2nd April, 2022 as stated earlier which is in total contradiction with later propaganda that the cash was brought out as a result of the recently introduced currency redesign which is barely 3 months old as we speak now.” He added.

The evidence of banner, video and images from the venue with dates are attached to this write ups, he explained further.

“At this juncture, we would like to draw the attention of the public to disregard this rumour and ignore the perpetrators in order not to discourage quality representation and people with good intentions for bringing democratic dividends to their people which is total departure from the past.

“What Sani Ma’aruf, has done in terms of infrastructure and empowerment has never happened in the history of the constituency from 1999 till date.

“The empowerment packaged was not even the first of its kinds but the third time something of this magnitude was done during his yet to expire four year tenure.” The statement added.

Furthermore, he acknowledged that it is on record that 63 mass transit cars were distributed to people in addition to 200 motorcycles, 200 sewing machines , 200 grinding machines and 200 irrigation generators while 1000 women were given N10, 000 through NDE  as grant to start up a business in 2021.

He added that over 50 persons got N60,000 through SPW, 300 got N30,000 through CCT also 500 people were trained on GSM repairs in partnership with SMEDAN among others

Also, in the educational sector, the Media Office, explained that standard ICT Centre was built in Rangaza town, blocks of over 100 classrooms in accumulation were built in various locations across the constituency in addition to furniture and teaching or learning materials to Primary School pupils. Recently 50 students were given scholarship to study NCE.

“A world class Primary Healthcare Centre was built including residential apartments for doctors with solar electrification and borehole water.” The statement reiterate
