ICPC Wades into Job Racketeering Allegations

By Hillary Asemota

In a curios twist to the job racketeering probe by the House of Representatives that appeared to be heading nowhere, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), on Friday said it commenced investigation into petitions received from Premium Times and Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi.

Gagdi is the Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Ad-Hoc Committee on the Investigation of Job Racketeering and Gross Mismanagement in Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), over bribery allegations against the probe panel.

The information was made known in a terse statement signed by Mrs. Azuka Ogugua, Spokesperson for ICPC.

Premium Times in apparent concern with the way and turn the investigation is heading opened up the weighty allegations of job racketeering and exchange of cash for jobs through the letter to the anti-corruption agency.

Recall that the investigation which began several weeks appeared to be on same spot without result.
