…Approves additional release of 42,000mt of grains

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has said President Bola Tinubu has approved and ordered that 42,000 metric tonnes of grains from the National Reserve be released immediately into the market.

This is coming in addition to the 102,000 metric tonnes of rice and maize due for release as as disclosed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Mohamed Idris, while answering questions from journalists in Abuja on Thursday.

Apparently in a strategic moves to push back the current wave of hunger through the additional release Kyari, said: “I am delighted to announce the approval for the immediate release of 42,000 metric tonnes of grains from the National Reserve, as approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

This is a significant step towards addressing the current hardship of food shortage and inflation in the country, he added.

The Agriculture Minister, said: “The release of these grains will help to increase the supply of food in the market, which will lead to a decrease in prices.

“This will provide relief to Nigerian families who have been struggling to afford basic necessities.

“The grains will be distributed to all states in the federation, and will be sold at subsidized prices. This will ensure that all Nigerians have access to affordable food.

I want to commend President Tinubu for his swift action in approving the release of these grains. This is a clear demonstration of his commitment to addressing the challenges facing our nation.

I also want to thank all the stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to make this happen. This is a step forward for all Nigerians. A stepping stone for those who have been struggling to put food on the table.

Meanwhile the Director, National Startegic Reserve, Mr. Sule Haruna, assured that there enough grains to go round the country especially as directed by President Tinubu.
