The former Deputy Governor of Kogi state, Elder Simon Achuba has condemned the killings of Agojeju Odo indigenes in Omala Local Government Area (LGA), calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the situation for peace to reign in the area.
Achuba, who made the call in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Akor Sylvester, expressed worry over what he described as wanton and senseless killings of the people and residents of Agojeju Odo community especially since after the November 2023 election in the state.
He called on President Bola Tinubu to prevail on the security agencies to act and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.
The former Deputy Governor, while stating that it is the duty of government to protect lives and properties of citizenry, urged the state government to work with the federal government to find lasting solution to the incessant killings of the people in the area.
He recalled that the Kogi East Critical Stateholders (KECS), the forum he belongs to, earlier wrote a letter to President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, Inspector General of Police, National Security Adviser and others to profer solutions to the crisis and killings in Omala LGA and some parts of the zone.
The former Deputy Governor therefore renewed the call made by the group to the aforementioned to expedite action for normancy to return to the community.
Achuba, used the forum to commiserate with the families of the victims of the massacre, urging them to remain law abiding and focused.
He enjoined the indigenes to be security conscious and report to the authority if they notice any strange movement in the area.
