A Nigerian by birth, Anne-Marie IMAFIDON, from Edo State who is a world class computer scientist, mathematician, social entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stemettes, a social enterprise has been appointed Chancellor, Glasgow University, United Kingdom (UK).
Imafidon, is known to have inspired and supported girls to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Meanwhile, the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated Imafidon, MBE on her appointment as the Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University, United Kingdom.
Obaseki, in a statement, said the appointment is a testament to the indomitable Edo spirit, which places hard work, diligence, and determination as core virtues in pursuit of excellence.
The statement reads: “It is with great pride that I heartily congratulate you, our own dear Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon, MBE on your well-deserved appointment as the Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University, UK.
“Your latest feat is a testament to the indomitable Edo spirit, which places hard work, diligence, and determination as core virtues in pursuit of excellence.
“As a worthy Edo daughter, you have made us proud and we are impressed by your lofty achievements. You have continued to give an excellent account of yourself, putting the State on the global stage for good.”
He said: “We celebrate your genius and strength of purpose, which have now earned you this coveted recognition and honour. You serve as an inspiration to many young Edo youths looking out for worthy mentors to guide them aright in a world filled with numerous distractions.”
The governor added, “While wishing you an impactful stay in office, I urge you to keep the spirit of excellence alive. Accept my sincere congratulations.”
