Nigerian scientists have expressed preparedness that its tomorrow’s virtual meeting: (Saturday 10, 2024) will further reinforce its foresight and forecast to unlock over $10 billion knowledge economy which the Federal Government will leverage on as pedestal to the attainment of its ambitious $1 trillion economy come 2030.
As the group ramps its momentum to actualizing the feat through cutting edge innovations and research outputs, there is no doubt this is also triggered by the success of the just concluded 2024 International Conference on Biotechnology perfectly organized by the National Biotechnology Research Development (NBRDA) in conjunction with other stakeholders within the science ecosystem which held in Abuja last month.
The conference which attracted Nigerian researchers coupled with attendants from the international communities proved beyond doubt that modern biotechnology is the next that holds immense capacity to turnaround the Nigerian economy.
Prof. Benjamin Ubi, former President of the Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (BSN) in a post, preparatory to the meeting, said: “Our foresight and forecast to unlock over $10 billion knowledge based revenue in support of $1 trillion Nigeria’s economy by 2030 is fast pacing.”
According to him, the umbrella body which comprised of Nigerian scientists from diverse research, science and technology fields are delighted to unveil scientifically crafted solutions and action points distilled from the 8 point Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Ubi, said the body is working with the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, under the leadership of Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji who is the Minister supervising over 18 federal research institutions and MDAs.
He expressed optimism that Nigerian scientists are inspired to deliver workable solutions roadmaps to MDAs at national and sub national level to activate Nigeria’s knowledge economy.
