FERMA REIGNITES RENEWED HOPE IMPLEMENTATION:

…SETS Pace In Public Service’s Performance Management System

The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), has further reinforced its pace setting leadership in actualizing President Bola Tinubu Renewed Hope Mantra through the implementation of the Performance Management System (PMS) in the public service delivery.

The revelation was made by the PMS Consultant from Zohar, Mrs. Titi Akinsanya, in an appraisal session with FERMA Management at the agency’s Headquarters over the weekend in Abuja

According to her, the Performance Management System (PMS) has been at the centre of government reforms in recent years as an integral modern tool for planning, management, budgeting and improving accountability.

She described as a pace-setting system that distinguishes productive and forward-looking organisations aspiring to reach the pinnacle in a 21st century competitive world.

Recall that since its launch by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) PMS has remained a priority area of the Federal Government in actualizing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu for timely service delivery.

It is therefore worthy of note that PMS is one of the 6 Pillars of the Federal Civil Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP25).

The Director (Information/Public Relation, Mrs. Maryam Sanusi, quoted the Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, and other PMS stakeholders in the agency as having worked assiduously over the past 18 months to position the agency as one of the foremost institutions implementing Performance Management System in the Public Service.

He disclosed that the FERMA has since keyed into the Performance Management Reform Initiative to support the actualisation of the current Administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He acknowledged that this has led to significant gains, as the agency has not only ensured over 97% of its staff have Employee Performance Contract prepared and signed with their immediate supervisors, adding that the agency has also successfully completed the implementation of the Performance Management Cycle.

According to him, the completion of the FERMA 2023 Performance Appraisal Closeout underpinned the 2024 Promotion Exercise which was driven by the New Performance Management System.

“This has indeed positioned the Agency as one of the leading organisations implementing the new OHCSF PMS practices end-to-end in Nigeria.” He said.

In the just concluded PMS session the MD reiterated the leadership commitment to build on the gains of the PMS Initiative and entrench a Culture of Performance Management in the agency.
