DREAM MAKERS FOUNDATION SET TO ACTIVATE RIGHTS OF GIRLS/WOMEN/YOUTH

A non-profit and non-political organization: Dream Makers Empowerment (DME) Foundation, registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is set to create awareness and advocacy on the rights to education of girls and women, youths, and the less privileged.

The NGO, s part of it overarching mandate will provide scholarships and vocational training to help women and youths gain the education and skills they need to pursue their dreams and careers.

Chairman of the Foundation, Amadi Nwando, in a statement, said some of the aims and objectives of the foundation is to also provide regular medical check-ups, health services, counseling and mental health support to individuals and beneficiaries of the organization.

The foundation, he added, will also support small business initiatives through micro financing and mentorship, enabling economic independence and growth, create job training programs that prepare individuals for the workforce, giving them the skills needed to secure employment.

According to him, the foundation will conduct advocacy and awareness campaigns, rights education and educate the community about the rights of women, youths, and the less privileged, empowering them to stand up for themselves and others.

Nwando, said: “DME Foundation shall also engage with policymakers to influence and implement policies that protect and enhance the lives of our target groups, and engage in community development and community projects through infrastructure development, build schools, clinics, and community centers that provide essential services and support to the community.

“The Foundation will also organize networking and partnerships through collaborative efforts, build strong partnerships with local and international organizations to amplify its impact and reach more individuals in need.

While acknowledging the role of education in selfworth and empowerment, he added: “Finally, the foundation said it will educate the community about sustainable practices and involve them in environmental conservation efforts and efforts to combat climate change by implementing projects that promote environmental sustainability such as tree planting and waste management initiatives.”
