She added that this is in consonance with the new drive of the Federal government on Performance Management System (PMS) in the nation’s public service.

Lawal made the disclosure at the 2022 recognition and award ceremony for outstanding officers who have excelled in the performance of their duties. The event was held at the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary explained that the theme for this year’s celebration is a mandate of President Muhammdu Buhari Administration to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoS) to institutionalize the service, in order to add value and deliver quality service to Nigerians.

She further stated that the theme is one of the six pillars of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP), adding that it is, “a service compact with Nigerians so that Nigerians can know what to expect and what to deliver”.

She urged members of staff to rededicate themselves to hard work and “do well in what they have been doing well and improve on those areas they were not doing well”, explaining that the recognition award is to motivate officers to do more.

The Permanent Secretary also promised that the management will continue to encourage and support officers to deliver on their duties in spite of the lean resources and the current economic downturn.

Lawal admonished staff to desist from compromising on service delivery and focus more on improving on their various work schedules. She however commended them for their collective efforts in, “putting a name and face to the Ecological Project Office”.

Representative of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and also Director, Learning and Development (OHCSF), Mr. Augustine Uzor commended the Permanent Secretary and staff of EPO for maintaining a high level of Key Performance Indicator (KPIs), especially as projects undertaken by the office are verifiable.

The Director, Special Duties, EPO, Dr Famous Eseduwo in his welcome remarks, highlighted the painstaking effort carried out by the committee to justify the selection process and assured staff that the exercise is a yearly event. He added that those who could not make the final list this year, stand the opportunity in subsequent editions through consistency in their hard work.

Those that received the recognition awards include: Mallam Manga Sani Mohammed, Assistant Director, Pollution Control Department for the Directorate Cadre Category, Mr. Bala Dele Mohammed, Head of Transport for the Middle Cadre Category and Mr. Archibong Kufre Thompson, Clerical Officer 11 for the Lower Cadre Category.
