…BAGS UI AMBASSADOR AWARD
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoS), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, has been designated as the University of lbadan (UI) at 75 Ambassador.
This is coming just as she called on Nigerian Universities and the Federal Government to come together harmoniously to build a greater Nigeria.
The award came on the strength of Yemi-Esan’s passionate and visionary leadership of the Civil Service, as well as her hard work, integrity, commitment and outstanding strides toward reforming the Service.
Recall that Yemi-Esan, attended the prestigious University of Ibadan, where she distinguished herself, graduating as the best Bachelor of Dental Surgery student.
While observers say the cap quintessentially fits her, it is therefore not surprising that her Alumnus is conferring on her being today (Friday 8) as the UI @75 Anniversary Ambassador.
The University’s delegation was led to her office by its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Oyebode Adebowale.
While thanking the Vice-Chancellor, the Head of Service recalled her days in the institution, stating that studying at the University at that time was not just about academic alone but a balanced academic and social life.
She urged the management of the University to work with the Federal Government in the area of research, adding that both government and institutions of learning need to come together to build a greater country.
Yemi-Esan, who was joined by the Permanent Secretaries in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, to receive the Ambassadorial Award (AA), expressed gratitude for the recognition given to her by her Alma-mater, while pledging to do more in the area of research for national development and indigent students.
The University was established in 1948 and UI, as it is fondly referred to, is the first University in Nigeria.
Until 1962, when it became a full-fledged independent University, it was a College of the University of London. The history and influence of the University have made it one of the most prestigious Universities and sought after University in Nigeria and Africa.
