WHY PRESIDENCY HONOURS NiMet, DG/CEO WITH GOVTECH TRAILBLAZER AWARDS

The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) and agency under the Presidency has honoured the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) with the prestigious Nigeria GovTech Award in the category of Best Federal MDAs in Data Management and Analytics.

In the same vein, the Director General/CEO of the NiMet, Prof. Mansur Matazu, has also been nominated to receive the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award for the exemplary leadership that he has brought to bear deploying precision and scientific methodologies in advancing GovTech initiatives and digital governance within NiMet in line with the Federal Government digital transformation in the public sector.

Recall that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Mr. Festus Keyamo, in a recent visit to NiMet’s Headquarters in Abuja, had expressed satisfaction with the robust state-of-the-art meteorology deployment that he declared: “The operations of NiMet are so massive and I’m impressed by what I have seen that I can only wish the DG and management well.”

The letter of award dated 19th September and signed by the Director General of BPSR, Mr. Arabi Ibrahim Dasuki and addressed to the Director General of the NiMet, stated: “We are pleased to inform you that your organization will be honoured with the prestigious Nigeria GovTech Award in the category of Best Federal MDA In Data Management and Analytics.”

The award, EXTRAORDINAIRE.COM learnt was conducted through a nationwide nomination and online voting initiated on radio, television and newspaper publications, would be presented at an award dinner in honour of the recipients on the 12th -13th of October, in Abuja.
