NNAJI SOLICITS OPS’ PARTNERSHIP TO COMMERCIALIZE R/D OUTPUTS

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Chief Uche Nnaji, has called on the Organised Private Sector (OPS) to partner the ministry to commercialize Research and Development outputs into finished goods and services to reduce over dependence on importation and increase the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Nnaji, said President Bola Tinubu’s Administration will prioritize commercialization of the country’s Research and Development (R/D) outputs for the socio-economic growth of the nation.

He made the disclosure when he received the delegation from the Defence Research and Development Bureau

(DRDB), led by its Director-General Major Gen. Emmanuel Ndagi, in his office in Abuja.

According to him, the Ministry has done so much in the area of research and development through its agencies, adding that collaboration will be the key to accessing funding for quick and effective commercialization of our R&D Products.

Earlier, the Director-General of DRBD, said the agency has the mandate to coordinate and sponsor research for the Armed forces institutions and innovative centres in the country.

He also said that the purpose of their visit is to strengthen the existing partnership between the agency and the Ministry in the area of using R&D output to transform the country’s economy from resource to knowledge based.

To this end, the DG disclosed that collaboration with the Ministry can also be extended to land, marine and aerospace to further boost national security.
