US FIRM, FG TO COLLABORATE ON RENEWAL ENERGY DEVELOPMENT

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, has said that the country is ready to partner a United States (US) renewable energy firm: Hecate Global Renewables and other renewable energy companies to develop Nigeria’s s energy sector.

Nnaji, stated that the development of the energy sector will boost our quest for industrialization, job creation and the desired economic boom of Nigeria.

The Minister said this when a delegation of Hecate Global Renewables  (USA) paid him a courtesy visit  today in Abuja.

According to the Minister, partnering with the Hecate Global Renewables is timely and in line with Renewed Hope Agenda of this administration, targeting improved power generation will enhance the completion of the various renewable energy projects in the country.

 To this end, Nnaji said that the Ministry is ready to collaborate with Hecate Global Renewables Company if it is prepared to kick-start the sector’s projects in the country.

Speaking, the Director-General, Energy Commission of Nigeria, (ECN) Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, said that the International Renewable Energy Agency (IEA), has conducted some studies on solar energy which will enhance climate change mitigation of greenhouse gasses as well as improve the health of humanity.

 Earlier, The Head of Business Development, Sub-Saharan in Africa, Ms. Catharine Jimmy Mfere, said that Hecate Global Renewables Company is one of the North America’s largest renewable energy generation and Battery Storage project that develop, build, own and operate in portfolio utility- scale green generation, renewable energy and battery storage in targeted growth markets.

She further stated that their main aim of coming to Nigeria is to collaborate with the Ministry and work together in order to manage the energy sector to a world standard.

In the same vein, she noted that the company has executed a lot of projects in US and other African countries such as Ghana, Sierra lone, Zambia, amongst others.
