SERVICE DELIVERY: OHCSF TRAINS  38 STAFF ON NEW REFORMS, CONFLICT MGT, OTHERS

The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has concluded a three-day specialised capacity building programme for Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Staff for improved productivity and optimal performance.

The programme was declared open by the Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office (SWO) in the OHCSF, Dr. Comfort Adeosun on Wednesday, in Abuja.

Adeosun, noted that the training is in line with pillar 6 of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP-25), which seeks to improve value proposition of staff through continuous professional development aimed at enhancing their efficiency and productivity, “we aim to empower each member of our team with the requisite knowledge, skills, and insights needed to excel in their respective roles,” she added.

The Director, also revealed that the training is a transformational journey for the department as staff will not remain the same at the end of it.

“As we embark on this journey together, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence, for the stakes are high and the responsibilities, profound.

”Let us seize this opportunity to elevate our department to new heights of effectiveness and efficiency, thereby ensuring the health, safety and well-being of every individual under our care and the preservation of generations to come.” she added.

She urged the staff to be committed to the new height the department is set to scale. “So let us be mindful that our endeavour extends beyond mere skill acquisition, it is about fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and adaptability.

“It is about instilling a sense of ownership and responsibility towards the well-being of our colleagues and the environment in which we operate.” she commented.

She appreciated Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, who graciously approved the capacity building programme in realisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President, as well as the and the core values of the Civil Service (Accountability, Meritocracy, Professionalism, Loyalty and Efficiency).

Earlier, the Acting Director, Occupational Health Safety and Environment, Engr. Bello Kwali, in his welcome address, applauded the noble initiative of the HoSF in prioritising capacity building of staff and the laudable effort of the Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary (Service Welfare Office) towards ensuring that the staff of the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Department are properly trained and equipped for effective and efficient service delivery.

The training outline includes: Public Service Rules – New Reforms,
Conflict Management in the Work Environment for Improved Productivity,
Health and Safety in the Workplace, Performance Management System (PMS), Hazard and Risk Assessment, Incident Reporting and Near Miss,
Emotional Intelligence,
Creating a Health and Safety Culture in the Workplace. Others are Efficient Management of Federal Civil Service Club, Understanding Public Private Partnership (PPP), Operational Procedures for Federal Civil Service Clubs, Redesigned
Stress Management and, lastly, Employee Wellness.
