FG, HUAWEI TRAIN 100 DIRECTORS ON ICT FOR SERVICE DELIVERY

…Present awards to Dr. Oghuma, 15 others

Under its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for Change Training programme, the Federal Government in collaboration with Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria Limited trained 100 Federal Civil Servants at the Directorate level in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Exceptional participants were awarded prizes at the conclusion of the event amongst whom is Dr. Patricks Oghuma, a SA to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji and 15 other participants.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. George Akume, thanked the company for training more than 3,000 civil servants from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on ICT since the collaboration began.

This is coming as sixteen exceptional participants at the closing ceremony of the fourth phase of the ICT for Change program.

The SGF, who was represented at the event by Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Mr. Nnamdi Mbaeri, acknowledged that the training will boost the capacity of civil servants in ICT to improve their service delivery in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

He appealed to Huawei Technologies that the partnership be sustained and extended to other key sectors of the economy.

Akume, also used the platform to call on other development partners to join hands with the federal government in its quest to improve the socio-economic lives and welfare of its citizens.

Speaking earlier, the Deputy Managing Director, Huawei Technologies, Stephen Zou, reiterated that his organization, has trained 100 civil servants at the directorate level and has cumulatively trained more than 3,000 civil servants so far, adding that Huawei is not relenting its effort to train more civil servants in ICT as the milestone achieved is just the beginning of more to come. 

The PROD-ME staff member who received the second prize, Batch 2, was Engr. Dr. Patricks Oghuma, who is currently serving as both the Deputy Head and Team Lead (Technical and Administrative) for Project Delivery, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PROD-ME) and as the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology’s Special Assistant.

In his vote of thanks, the Director of ICT, Mr. Francis Wasa, thanked the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for giving Huawei Technologies the necessary support to train civil servants on ICT and also thanked the Company imparting civil servants with proficiency in ICT to boost their service delivery.
