NIGCOMSAT SET TO UNVEIL STARTUPS FROM ITS 9-MONTH ACCELERATOR PROGRAMMME FRIDAY 18

The Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) on Wednesday said it is ready to unveil its highly anticipated NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Demo outcomes and results on Friday 18, 2024 in Abuja.

The Demo Day is part of its 3 day activities where startups from its 9-month accelerator program will showcase their innovative solutions as part of contribution to national development using satellite.

Addressing a cross section of the Media at an interactive section to kick-start the satellite week, the Managing Director (MD/CEO), of the company, Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, expressed excitement at declaring open the maiden edition of the Nigerian satellite week.

The event, according to her, marks a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s satellite and space industry as stakeholders gather in Abuja to explore how communication satellites can be the driving force behind Nigeria’s sustainable development via diverse industries and initiatives.

NIGCOMSAT goal, she stressed is to ensure that satellite technology becomes a cornerstone of Nigeria’s sustainable future, driving impact across diverse sectors, even in the most remote areas.

Let’s build collaborations, foster innovation, and ensure that the outcomes of this week lead to real, lasting progress, she added.

“We are building something greater than ourselves: a connected, resilient Nigeria powered by satellite technology. Every one of us has a role to play in ensuring this vision becomes a reality.

“We are here on this journey because of our nation’s renewed hope agenda spearheaded by President Bola Tinubu and the incredible support and guidance of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani.”

According to her, the event was put together to bring experts, industry players, investors, policy leaders, innovators and decision-makers from across the public and private sectors, both locally and internationally.

The MD, said: “Our mission for the next few days is clear:  to unpack and showcase the transformative potential of satellite technology for Nigeria, setting the stage for tangible progress for Nigeria’s economy, security, healthcare, education and more…forging connections and partnerships in this regard.

“The Nigerian Satellite Week is designed to be more than just a platform for discussions: it’s a springboard for action as each day of this event has been meticulously planned to highlight critical areas where satellite technology can revolutionise our nation.”

The stakeholders’ Forum holds tomorrow, (Thursday) a critical day for in-depth dialogue and collaboration, adding that the company will be engaging with thought leaders, policymakers, regulators, and industry players to explore how satellites can serve as a bridge to Nigeria’s digital economy.

“The highly anticipated NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Demo Day holds on Friday, where startups from our 9-month accelerator program will showcase their innovative solutions.

“These startups represent the future of Nigeria’s space sector—young, dynamic, and full of potential.

“This is the day we will see entrepreneurship and innovation in action, with pitches from startups ready to transform the industry.

“We’ll also have fireside chats and panels discussing the role of public-private partnerships (PPP) and entrepreneurship in driving space sector growth.
