LAGOS-CALABAR HIGHWAY TO GROW NIGERIA’S ECONOMY BY 30%

The Federal Ministry of Works, has said the road map of the Renewed Hope administration towards building the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway legacy project will be a catalyst for the enhancement of marine businesses and growing of the maritime industry.

According to Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, SA on Communications for the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, in a statement over the weekend, asserted that this project alone will grow Nigeria’s economy by 30%.

While reinforcing his calculation, he added that President Bola Tinubu has an incredibly decisive, bold, audacious and laudable   plan to return Nigeria to the path of progress and prosperity.

Let’s support him and the Minister to secure the future of our country and bring this to fruition, he added.

He said: “The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is considered crucial for Nigeria’s economic development as it will significantly improve connectivity along the country’s coastline, boosting trade, tourism, and industrial growth by linking major cities, ports, and economic hubs across several states, creating new job opportunities, and facilitating easier movement of goods and services throughout the region; essentially acting as a major economic corridor for the nation. 

Orji, said: “Key points about the importance of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway include: “Economic Growth…The highway is expected to significantly contribute to Nigeria’s GDP by facilitating trade, attracting foreign investment, and developing coastal businesses. 

“Improved Infrastructure…This large-scale project will provide a modern transportation network along the coastline, enhancing connectivity between major cities and ports.

 “Regional Development: By connecting multiple states along the coast, the highway will stimulate economic development in previously underserved areas. 

“Tourism Boost…Improved access to coastal destinations is anticipated to significantly boost tourism activities. 

“Job Creation…Construction and maintenance of the highway will create numerous job opportunities in various sectors. 

“Logistics Efficiency…The highway will streamline the transportation of goods, reducing costs and improving logistics efficiency.”
