The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has approved the appointment of new Special Advisers.

The Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Osarodion, via a statement outlet, said the swearing-in of the appointees will be conducted at a date to be announced later.

The statement reads: “The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has approved the appointments of new Special Advisers in the Edo State Government.

“The appointees are Lady Uwa Osunbor, Special Adviser, Political; Dr. Philomena Ihenyen, Special Adviser, Political; Hon. Jimfred Obadiku, Special Adviser, Political and Shedrack Ohiorenua Udugbai, Special Adviser, Youth Affairs.”

Ogie further noted, “The Governor also approved the appointments of Special Advisers for the State’s nine Federal Constituencies.

“The appointees are: Philomena Balogun, Akoko-Edo; Hon. Ayuba Sedenu, Etsako East/West/Central; Abu Abdullahi, Owan West/East; Kenneth Edebiri, Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode; Osagie Ekunwe Melody, Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituencies.

He added, “The swearing-in of the appointees will be conducted at a date to be announced later.”

Meanwhile, Obaseki has described the retired Permanent Secretary, Government House and Protocol, Mrs. Julie Olatunji, as one of the greatest transformational agents that the Edo State civil service has produced.

Obaseki said this during a send-off party organized for her in Benin City attended by colleagues, politicians, friends, serving Commissioners, top government functionaries amongst others.

The governor said through her performance, Olatunji as the former PS gave him confidence that there are people in this country that can still make Nigeria work.

“We are all here to celebrate with you and I know you to be a pleasant and amazing person but never knew you were a crowd puller. The crowd here today represents the person we are celebrating today.

“I knew three months ago she will retire and I am sure I will have issues when she retires. So, I asked the new Permanent Secretary to understudy her to make sure there is no gap in my office when she leaves.

“So much has been said about Mrs. Olatunji and these give confidence that we still have people in this country that can make Nigeria work. Civil servants are to serve the people.

“She is leaving the service of Edo State as one of the greatest transformational agents that the civil service has produced. She came in 35 years ago as an analog worker but she is leaving as a digital permanent secretary. It tells you whoever is good is good.

“All of us in Edo State appreciate you for what you have done for the civil servants, family, politicians, all you have interacted with. The crowd here tells the good you do live after you and Olatunji’s life should be an example to us all.

Olatunji said to succeed in the civil/public service, one has to be a team player and a good leader, carrying everybody along.

“I feel fulfilled and have a sense of high achievement. Put self aside and consider general interest as that is the only way you can achieve a lot. You have to be a team player, a good leader and carry everyone along.”
