Ex Minister to Headline Stakeholders’ Engagement on Nigeria’s Preparedness for Climate Change Mitigation/Dialogue

Foremost traditional ruler, the Emir of Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, who was a former Minister in the Federal Ministry of Environment, Alhaji Ibrahim Jibril will on Tuesday lead other notable stakeholders to brainstorm on Nigeria’s preparedness for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP28) due to hold in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023.

The parley in Abuja is being organized by a foremost analytical magazine: Development Agenda and the Environmental Media Correspondents Association of Nigeria (EMCAN), comprising print, electronic and online journalists have been accredited to cover the event.

The disclosure was contained in a statement signed by the Publisher, Development Agenda, Mr. Paddy Ezeala and EMCAN’s Chairman, Amechi Chuks Oyema.

The one-day seminar has as its theme “Climate Change and COP28: The way forward for Nigeria” will examine Nigeria’s response to Climate Change, Nigeria’s previous COPs attendance, COP28: Legislative support for Nigeria’s climate change efforts at mitigation, it’s  ambitions plans and conservation geared towards a healthy and sustainable environment.

The speakers slated to speak at the event include Prof. Edem Eniang of Nasarawa State University, Hon. Terseer Ugbor, Deputy Chairman, Committee on Environment, House of Representatives, Dr. Priscilla Achakpa, Founder and Global President of the Women Environment Programme (WEP) and Michael Terungwa David

According to the duo, the seminar will bring together representatives of States, National Assembly, Ministries, Departments, Agencies, civil society organisation’s, diplomatic community and the media.

The UNFCCC secretariat (UN Climate Change) is the United Nations entity tasked with supporting the global response to the threat of climate change is expected to be represented at the event.
